FUEL SUMMER MISSION TRIP

June 17th - June 21st, 2018

The Mission week will begin with our middle-schoolers meeting at CUMC at 3 pm Sunday, June 17th, at which time we will travel to Calvary United Methodist Church in Flint, MI, Calvary UMC is the base for the Flint Mission Project. Projects include, but are not limited to, painting, yard clean up and assistance with shingle pick up from roof repairs. Our group will stay overnight Sunday and Monday evenings at Calvary UMC where we will have the opportunity to eat, worship and play with other youth groups participating in the mission week.

Wednesday and Thursday we will be joining our Adult Righteous Mission for day trips. ARM will have groups working on site at Clarkston UMC and in Pontiac at the Warming House. As we get closer to the summer we will learn exactly where we will be needed to assist.

About ASP

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair in central Appalachia. ASP’s vision is that substandard housing in central Appalachia will be eradicated and that everyone who comes into contact with this ministry will be transformed.

ASP’s goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need. It also provides a unique framework that fosters transformational experiences for volunteers and families served by building relationships with each other that break down cultural, social and economic barriers. Chaperones needed: For every 5 youth, we are required to bring 2 adult chaperones

The camp ground has nice shower and bathroom facilities, a beautiful lake, an activity center and more.

Friday Night: Campfire time with s’mores and fruit pies Saturday: Family fun with craft time and games ending with a campground movie night.

Sunday: Worship time on the water, pack up and head home
This weekend promises to be an experience that will impact you and your children for life, and more importantly, impact others.

FUEL Youth Group will have two Serve and Play Days this summer. CUMC Youth have volunteered at both organizations over the past five years and wish to continue our connection with these amazing groups in Pontiac. Our work will most likely be general gardening and planting work however we will know more as the time grows closer.

The schedule for the Serve and Play Days will be to meet at the church in the morning. Serve 9am to 12noon go to a fast food restaurant for lunch and then go to our fun event after lunch. We should return to the church at approximately 4:30pm each day.

Dementia Education Workshop

WITH HOPE DEMENTIA MINISTRY

Workshops will include: Dementia Basics (9-10 a.m.); Understanding Dementia Related Behaviors (10:30-11:30 a.m.); and Brain Health and Preventing Dementia (12:30-2:00 p.m.). Vendors will be available during breaks. Boxed Lunch is included in the registration cost.

Cedar Point Day Trip

Middle and High School youth, join Jeremy Dean and Michele Ettinger along with a handful of fun adult chaperones for a day of roller coasters and trill rides at Cedar Point! This will be a day trip so we will meet at the church at 6:30 am, leaving the church no later than 7am and return back to the church at approximately 11pm. All meals are supplied by you. Feel free to pack your lunch or snacks or bring money to purchase food. Youth are responsible for carrying their own food etc. Youth will need to check in with leaders at 1 and 5pm via a photo. Youth will be asked to meet again at 8pm at a designated location so that we can leave the park by 8:30pm. We will send out a remind text when we are getting close. We are likely to swing through a restaurant drive through at some point so please bring spending money if your youth wishes to buy something for dinner.
